The story was interesting and Kit and Ben are definitely a sweet couple. Her career, the house, and his family were engaging.Unfortunately it dragged. At 50% it just seems to stall. Then they started having sex and Ben's inner dialogue was vulgar. I just don't want to read a man thinking, "I'm going to f%$& her." I really enjoyed this book. It was very readable and after getting over the first few chapters (see disclaimer below), I read it all in one late night sitting. Kit was very likable and a bit quirky but in a fun way. I really enjoyed her interactions with her friends. This book was as much about her friendships, and finding family as it was about her love story. Plus it doesn't hurt that I am a total nerd scientist like she is.I can relate to Ben as well, I have been the child taking care of a injured, stubborn, parent. I loved his relationship with his dad and with some of the secondary characters that make up his family. I also really liked that he has a whole history in the town and you continue to see it come in to play throughout the book. It really adds to the story as you get an amazing feel for the town that Kit loves so much.Of course, since I loved both Kit and Ben individually, I loved them together. They had great chemistry and some good banter. I really enjoyed the journey of them going from a bad meeting (not insta-hate, just awkward) to friends, to more...and everything else in between. This book had all the feels, I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I was irritated a time or two, and I was so, so happy that I got to enjoy the whole story.As I mentioned I loved the other characters in the book and I cannot wait to read Zoe's story next. I hope we get more great characters and I am sure another great love story. Even as I write this I am smiling, and may have to go read Beginner's Luck again, because why is the next one so far away!*While I did win this book through the GoodReads FirstReads program I am under no obligation to write a review and all opinions are my own. Though I am a bit embarrassed by how many times I said "I love" something. Seriously, someone needs to find me a thesaurus.And finally my disclaimer of why it took me forever to read more than the first few chapters: I always have issues when backstories don't really ring true to my experience, and yes I know its fiction, but we all have our things. When I first started reading it I was a bit annoyed by some of the parts with Kit's work and how research labs actually function. It took me a bit to move past my irritation/desire to correct the fictional tale. But in the end most of these discrepancies were redeemed/explained and I was impressed by how well it all came together. So if you have the same issues I do, then I suggest you still give it a chance.
